By embracing the wackier side of the original movie, 2 Fast 2 Furious starts the trend of over-the-top action that the franchise would eventually become so popular for. The story is paper-thin and predictable, but the action keeps things refreshing all the same. Overall, thisis an entertaining yet severely flawed sequel.
Even though 2 Fast 2 Furious is pretty lackluster in terms of script and acting, it still delivers exciting action. You’ll see some absolutely wicked car action, and while the practical effects hold up better than the CGI, most of it is still tons of fun.īy stepping away from the underground street racing story of the first movie and substituting it with a gangster flick set in Florida, the narrative has some opportunities for truly wacky and fun sequences. Generally speaking, the story leaves a lot to be desired, but it works as a way to deliver some crazy action.Ģ Fast 2 Furious finds some redemption within the action scenes though, which are both inventive and never taken too seriously. The dialogue often boils down to these two characters bouncing one-liners off each other, whether during an intense shoot-out, a planning phase, or a car chase. This includes Roman Pearce (Tyrese Gibson), one of Brian’s childhood friends and an overall troublemaker.
